Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Canyon Stone?
Canyon Stone is natural stone replicated. Our manufacturing process is proprietary and the leader in the industry. In short, we select natural stone, mold it, and then manufacture architectural stone from cement, lightweight aggregates and iron oxide pigments.
- Why do we both manufacture and install our product?
Simply, this model benefits our customer. We have shortened the supply chain to our customers. Because we sell our product directly to the customer and install it we have eliminated distributors and masons mark up. Our customers enjoy the benefits in pricing and control of a turn key operation.
- What if I want to install my own stone or have someone else install it?
While we prefer to install our own product, we will also sell our stone as a stand alone product. We have also included in our web site installation instructions for those using our stone but having someone besides us install it.
- What are the benefits of using Canyon Stone?
The installed cost of Canyon Stone is ¼ to 1/3 less than natural stone. Our stone is engineered to retain its color and texture over time even under harsh weather conditions. Our stone is lightweight and can be applied to almost any structural surface. Because our stone is lightweight there is no requirement for a footing, foundation or wall ties.
- Is Canyon Stone guaranteed?
Yes. Canyon Stone and Installation provides a full warranty on both our product and installation. Canyon Stone warranty (link to warranty documents).
- Does Canyon Stone meet Building Code requirements?
Our product has been tested by independent licensed laboratories. Our product complies with all Building Code requirements. (See our technical data sheet).
- Should I seal Canyon Stone?
It can be sealed but we do not recommend it. Sealing the stone can trap moisture against the stone and alter its sheen. Should you seal the stone use a Silane or Siloxane breathable sealer.
- What is the size and weight of Canyon Stone?
Most stones are 1 ½ to 2 inches thick and vary in surface size based on the style selected. Typically, Canyon Stone weighs between 8-11 lbs per square foot.
- How about water damage?
Canyon Stone has extremely low water absorption. However, canyon Stone should not be used below water levels or in applications that subject the stone to chemicals or chlorines which may discolor the stone.
- Can Canyon Stone be used around fireplaces?
Canyon Stone is non combustible; it can be used around stoves and fireplace facings.
